Astro Bot Rescue Mission was a VR game that had players explore multiple worlds in search of Astro’s lost crew. It became one of the highest-rated VR games, so naturally, the franchise did not stop there. Astro’s Playroom would launch in 2020 pre-installed on every PS5, and once again served as a tech demo for the studio’s latest controller. Then, in 2024, players were treated to the full-length critically acclaimed platformer Astro Bot. Some platformers are really safe in their level design/movesets so you bet I’m critical.
To assist with his mission, Astro can use over 15 new abilities offering unique play styles. Combined with improved Astro controls, these new powers take the Astro platforming experience to new heights while remaining accessible for all. While he’s pretty fun to fight his design is pretty bland to me and not at all intimidating or interesting.

Foamstars has 2 done to death modes yet I can think of a surfboard mode, a foam clean up mode, chemicals to mess with the foam, traps and more. They barely come up with anything that useful to use the foam for. They just don’t have that mindset, too much money focus then to be creative with the worlds/core mechanics.

The hub area ‘Crash Site’ also contains bots and puzzle pieces, which you obtain by interacting with the blue markers to call your bots for help. Then there are 2 extra Nebulas, one for the final story part, and one is the ‘Lost Galaxy’ that contains all 11 secret levels. Besides many of Astro Bot’s creative and exciting boss battles, nostalgia fuels much of Astro Bot’s most thrilling moments, especially with the few stages specifically themed after PlayStation’s most beloved properties. However, those experiences risk feeling hollow for those who haven’t played the games that Astro Bot seems desperate to reference. This is a grand re-opening for Astro Bot, and it surely marks the start of what is destined to be a beloved series shooting for the moon. It seems odd to say I don’t want to spoil a game that effectively has no story, but some of the game’s best secrets really must be discovered with your own eyes.
Astro Bot Brought Home Four Big Game Awards
Stuff to roll around in, stuff that forms little piles that can be kicked about. I’ll open a chest and there will be lumps of gold rolling around at the bottom. In one completely dazzling level I was given a magnet, and soon I was vacuuming up metal bars by the dozen and spray cans by the hundreds, all ready to form a bait ball I could fling at a distant target. Customers find the PlayStation 5 console to be an incredible value for money and report that it works perfectly. F168 receives mixed feedback, with several customers noting that it feels flimsy. The hardware quality is also mixed, with one customer reporting no marks or scuffs on their unit.
There’s never the openness found in the large-by-comparison Mario Odyssey levels, but enough nooks and crannies to get stuck into nonetheless. I’m a big fan of this Russian doll structure and the way it introduces new lands. It ensures a constant supply of surprises throughout Astro Bot’s roughly nine-hour duration.
